5 Years of Loss

Okay so here’s my lame attempt to write a poem for you, T-Mitch:

Memories haunt me

Yet they cure me

Losing you has been the worst challenge

I’m not sure how much more I can manage

I’m doing what it takes to survive

And on a mission to keep your memory alive

Just know you’re loved and adored

By so many across the board

Your light means so much to me

Because new people I meet are made to see

If the roles were reversed

You’d make sure I was well conversed

You’ll never be away from me

Memories will ever be

Awalt Building in Downtown Dallas – August 2009

I still can’t believe it’s been 5 years away from you, T-Mitch…. You were always better at poetry! LOL! This was my feeble attempt.

(If you’re reading this then you should check out Torey’s book of poetry here: The Safe.)

My Mom asked me to do something different this year to honor your light … I thought about it and know that you were a thespian at heart. I checked Dallas Theater’s schedule and saw that the Christmas Carol will be opening soon. I bought tickets in your honor – for Das and I. You played Scrooge during your time at Redwater High School so it’s more than appropriate!

We will continue to celebrate your life and legacy. We love you and miss you so incredibly much!
